Jair Bolsonaro is facing numerous legal issues whether rightly or wrongly is still unclear
Jair Bolsonaro, the former president of Brazil, is facing numerous legal issues after his term ended.
He has been prohibited from running for public office for the next eight years due to accusations of spreading false information about the voting system.
Moreover, he is under investigation for various alleged illegal activities, including, but not limited to, conspiring to overthrow the government and falsifying COVID-19 certificates.
Many people in Brazil who support Bolsonaro believe he is being unfairly targeted for political reasons.

Others aren’t sure and think he might be guilty, while his enemies are convinced he did everything he is accused of.
His sons are also facing legal challenges.
Police Investigation
It is suspected that Bolsonaro might have taken jewelry gifts from Saudi Arabia in 2019.
The authorities believe that he, his wife Michelle, and others may have sold official gifts for their personal benefit.
This includes a luxury watch, potentially linked to money laundering and embezzlement. However, Bolsonaro has denied all these accusations in April.
Supreme Court Investigation
Bolsonaro is currently facing five different investigations by the Supreme Court, each of which could potentially lead to imprisonment.
He is accused of inciting a government attack, interfering with police activities, and spreading misinformation about electronic voting machines.
Additionally, he is accused of leaking information about a cyber attack on an electoral court and making false associations between the COVID-19 vaccine and HIV.
He is also facing charges for allegedly participating in anti-democratic protests.
He could face almost 40 years of imprisonment if convicted on all charges.
Electoral Court Proceedings
The Superior Electoral Court has declared Bolsonaro ineligible for office due to accusations of abusing political power and misusing communication media.
His defense team plans to appeal to the Supreme Court.
Fifteen other pending cases could potentially lead to additional convictions, including accusations of verbal attacks on the electoral system and using public resources for personal gain during elections.
Concerns About His Children
Four of Bolsonaro’s children, three of whom are politicians, are also under suspicion for various illegal activities.
Jair Renan, the youngest, was recently suspected of money laundering. In 2021, he was asked to testify about alleged business bribe payments.
Flávio, a senator from Rio de Janeiro, was accused in 2020 of misappropriating public funds by collecting part of his employees’ salaries, but the investigation was later archived.
Carlos, a Rio legislator, is under investigation for allegedly diverting money through hiring “ghost” employees.
Eduardo, a deputy from Sao Paulo, was investigated for allegedly purchasing apartments with cash between 2011 and 2016.
