Germany will resume investments in the Amazon Fund

Traveling to Brazil, the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, visited the state of Amazonas today (Jan. 2).

In Manaus, he met with governor Wilson Lima, reappointed yesterday (Jan. 1), with whom he talked about the Amazon.

Steinmeier came to Brazil to honor the new president of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, at his inauguration yesterday (Jan. 1).

During the meeting with Wilson Lima, the German representative spoke about his country's intentions to resume regional investments through the Amazon Fund.

The Amazon Fund aims to finance projects for reducing deforestation and monitoring the biome.
