Eve Air Mobility establishes first eVTOL production facility in Brazil’s São Paulo state

Eve Air Mobility, a subsidiary of Embraer, has disclosed plans to establish a production facility for their electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles (eVTOLs), colloquially known as ‘flying cars’, in Taubaté, São Paulo.

The announcement coincided with the 150th birthday of aviation pioneer Santos Dumont.

The company plans to utilize and expand an existing Embraer facility in Taubaté for the production of these eVTOLs.

The first models are projected to be ready by 2026, pending final approval from authorities.

However, no information has been released regarding potential hiring for this project.

Eve Air Mobility previously formed a partnership with a U.S.-based airline to implement urban transportation with eVTOLs in San Francisco.

The collaboration with United Airlines aims to establish an effective ecosystem for the operation of these flying cars.

United Airlines has already demonstrated its commitment to the project by investing BRL 15 million in Eve in 2022, and expressing interest in purchasing up to 400 eVTOLs.

The eVTOLs are expected to provide a quick, affordable, and carbon-neutral means of transport within urban settings and to airports.

The fully electric vehicles will have a range of 60 miles (100 kilometers), opening up possibilities for various air mobility missions.

The operation of these vehicles is anticipated to boost local economies by creating jobs.
