The European Commission announced a forthcoming investment of €45 (US$50) billion in Latin America and the Caribbean.
This investment is part of the Global Gateway program, which aims to invest in a range of initiatives including clean energy, mRNA vaccines, and natural resources.
The initiative has already started on more than 135 projects.
The program focuses on the promotion of investments in the digital, energy, and transportation sectors, and also aims to strengthen global systems for health, education, and research.
The Global Gateway program has a budget of €300 (US$335) billion for 2021-2027, which is allocated for sustainable projects tailored to partner countries’ needs, aiming to provide long-term benefits to local communities.
