Brazil’s tourism sector expected to grow by 8.6% by 2023

Last Friday, Tourism Minister Celso Sabino met with José Roberto Tadros, president of the National Confederation of Trade in Goods, Services, and Tourism (CNC).

Tadros unveiled the revised forecast for tourism growth in 2023, now set at 8.6%, up from the previously projected 8.1%.

Sabino emphasized the significance of this update, stating, “The discussion with President Tadros was crucial for our tourism goals.

Advancing the tourism sector inherently means fostering Brazil’s overall growth. The data from this study provides valuable insights into the emerging positive trends.”

Tadros highlighted the resilience and adaptability of the services sector, even amidst periodic fluctuations.

“This underlines the sector’s sustained significance as a cornerstone of the economy,” he added.

The increased projection results from the anticipated global activity surge. The tertiary sector, which includes tourism, has been a driving force for economic progress post-pandemic.

Revenues have surpassed levels seen in February 2020 by 12.1%, while commerce has seen a 3% rise, and industry remains 1.4% below pre-pandemic levels.

According to CNC data, tourism ranks second in employment generation, following only the construction industry.
