Brazil’s consumer price index IPCA-15 reaches 0.95% in March -IBGE

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The broad National Consumer Price Index – 15 (IPCA-15) recorded a high of 0.95% in March, after rising 0.99% in February, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) announced Friday morning. This is the highest deviation for the month of March since 2015 (1.24%).

The result was within the estimates of financial market analysts surveyed by Projeções Broadcast, who had expected a peak of 0.72% to 1.07% but exceeded the median of estimates, which pointed to a peak of 0.86%. A Reuters poll of economists showed a peak of 0.87% for the period.

With the result now announced, the IPCA-15 has posted a 2.54% increase this year, according to IBGE data. The 12-month rate was 10.79%. Forecasts ranged from 10.53% to 10.90%, with a median of 10.69%.
