Brazil’s agricultural production valued at US$220 billion

According to Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture, the country’s agricultural production for 2023 is valued at R$1.2 trillion (US$220 billion), placing Brazil as a major player in the global agricultural market.

Brazil holds a significant role in agriculture, with soybeans driving production.

The value of the 2023 soybean crop is estimated at R$356 billion, followed by corn at R$152 billion.

These two crops are often cultivated alternately within the same area in the same year, which maximizes soil usage and boosts farmers’ revenue.

Brazil is the world’s leading exporter of soybeans and corn.

Additionally, these grains are used for livestock feed, specifically for poultry and pigs, with Brazil being among the largest commercial producers of these animals globally.

The Ministry predicts that the combined value of poultry and pig production this year will reach R$122 billion, surpassed only by cattle at R$138 million.

The Ministry’s estimation is based on the results of 23 types of crops and five types of livestock.

The agricultural study includes, in addition to soybeans and corn, cotton, peanuts, rice, bananas, potatoes, cocoa, coffee, onions, beans, tobacco, oranges, castor beans, cassava, black pepper, tomatoes, wheat, grapes, and apples. Livestock analysis also includes breeds for meat, eggs, and milk

Agricultural products reach people’s lives in two ways: either in their natural form or after undergoing industrial processing. Corn serves as an excellent example of this dynamic.

Besides feeding livestock, corn can be purchased in its natural form at supermarkets or used to fuel cars in the form of ethanol produced from this grain.

It is also transformed into oil and flour used in industrial production.

Therefore, Brazil’s agricultural production’s high value is primarily due to its positive impact on people’s lives.
