Brazilian Chamber approves repudiation note to President Lula, the first in history
The Commission on Public Security and Combating Organized Crime of the House of Representatives approved a repudiation note to President Lula.
This is in response to his statement on the Federal Police Operation Sequaz, which, on March 22, arrested nine members of the criminal faction First Command of the Capital (PCC) for plans to assassinate Senator Sergio Moro (União-PR) and other authorities.
When asked about the operation, Lula laughed and said it was “a frame-up by Moro.”

Only five votes were against the motion, four from PT parliamentarians and one from Psol.
The commission said Lula’s statement “means a total disrespect to the Federal Police and all the public authorities that were being threatened and running the risk of having their lives taken by crime.”
In the note, the parliamentarians state that the president lacked the decorum the office requires.
“We cannot allow and face with naturalness the speech of the president of the Republic that publicly demoralizes that institution.”
With the note of repudiation, the Security Commission reaffirms “our respect for the Federal Police institution and for all public authorities who are threatened due to their functions,” the parliamentarians wrote.
The president of the commission, Ubiratan Sanderson (PL-RS), said it is “despicable and threatening speech to the smoothness of the Federal Police and those threatened.”
