Brazil: Lula signs agreement with Chinese state media this week

This week, the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) will sign an agreement with China’s largest state-owned press group.

The information was disclosed by the website UOL on Monday (10).

The protocol will be closed during Lula’s visit to Beijing as part of more than 20 agreements signed between the countries.

According to the portal, the agreement is between the China Media Group, known by its acronym CMG, and the Secretariat of Institutional Relations of the Lula Government.

The group of the Chinese communist dictatorship was created in 2018 and includes companies such as Central China Television, China National Radio and others.

In 2020, the US State Department designated some of the conglomerate’s companies as “foreign missions” and “Chinese Communist Party operatives.”

Obtained by UOL, the text sets a goal “to strengthen cooperation with the Brazilian press, increase mutual trust, and promote the development of relations between the two countries.”

The treaty between Brazil and China provides for the “exchange and cooperation of content for the benefit of the two countries’ economic, social and sustainable development.

The press in China is controlled by the communist dictatorship of Xi Jinping.

The agreement foresees that the cooperation can occur for two years, automatically renewed for another two years.
