Advanced Monitoring Tech to Safeguard Rio’s Coastline

The Miramar Consortium has secured the coastal surveillance contract for Rio de Janeiro State.

The project is a collaboration between Integrated High-Tech Systems (IHTS) and the Engineering Bureau and will install advanced sensors for monitoring the coastline.

Rio de Janeiro’s coast houses significant ports and military bases. These facilities are vital for both civilian and defense activities.

The project’s goal is to manage sea traffic, maintain port authority, protect the oil and gas sectors, and facilitate search and rescue operations.

It plans to integrate new technologies with existing sensors to bolster coastal safety.

The Brazilian Navy confirmed Miramar Consortium’s selection to implement a Coastal Surveillance Unit (CSU) into the Blue Amazon Management System (SisGAAz).

This decision followed a detailed proposal review process initiated in July 2023.

A CSU is a network of radars, cameras, and communication devices. Positioned along the shore, these tools enable the tracking and identification of sea vessels.

This technology is critical for monitoring maritime interests.

The upcoming contract talks are on schedule. They will comply with all legal procedures and follow the specifications set by the proposal request.
