Surge in Brazil-USA Flight Passengers for Latam and Delta

In 2023, Latam and Delta Air Lines saw a significant 63% increase in passengers on Brazil-USA flights.

From January to December, the number of travelers flying between these countries jumped from 797,000 in 2022 to 1.3 million.

This increase boosted their combined market share in Revenue Passenger Kilometers (RPK) from 27.5% to 34.8%, as reported by Anac.

This growth highlights the success of the joint venture initiated in October 2022.

Danillo Barbizan, Delta’s Sales Manager in Brazil, emphasized the United States as a popular destination for Brazilian travelers.

He noted that the joint venture enhances travel experiences with optimal routes, timings, and connections.

It also offers mutual benefits for frequent flyers on both airlines.

The joint venture between Latam and Delta now connects over 300 destinations in the Americas.

This network includes the USA, Canada, and South America.

In August 2023, Latam launched the São Paulo-Los Angeles route, the only direct flight between Brazil and the West Coast of the USA. Delta also expanded its services in December.

They introduced a seasonal Rio de Janeiro-New York/JFK flight and made the Rio de Janeiro-Atlanta route regular.

Latam’s current Brazil-USA routes include São Paulo to Orlando, Boston, Los Angeles, Fortaleza to Miami, São Paulo to Miami, and São Paulo to New York.

These routes offer various flight frequencies, catering to diverse traveler needs.

During their first year of partnership, Latam and Delta operated 15,000 flights together.

They transported over three million passengers, covering 90 million kilometers.

This collaboration allows passengers to share airport terminals and enjoy benefits from both the Latam Pass and Delta SkyMiles programs.

Frequent flyers can accumulate and redeem points or miles, benefiting from flying with either airline.
