The São Paulo City Hall announced the debut of MobizapSP – a state-run transportation app that emerged to compete with Uber and 99Taxi.
The app has been running since 1 pm this Thursday, 23.
According to the city administration, the goal is to provide fairer passenger prices and higher pay for drivers.
Almost 26,000 professionals are registered, while over 23,000 citizens can use the application.
MobizapSP is only available for departures from the capital.
However, other cities can be the final destination.
Cash, credit card, and debit card are possible payment methods.
The city government reported that the fare per kilometer driven should be similar to that of private companies.
However, the city government did not disclose the values. One of the novelties of the app is that there is no dynamic fare, i.e., there is no increase in the price of races during peak hours.
The MobizapSP Passenger and MobizapSP Driver apps are available on Android and iOS.
Users who wish to register must download the app and fill in personal information such as name, phone number, and e-mail.
Those interested in working as drivers must register briefly and validate their personal information.
The city government claims that the approved professionals should receive higher remuneration than those offered by private apps because the administration fee is low – 10.95%, compared to at least 20% for rivals.
