The Government of São Paulo announced on Monday (May 22, 2023) that Metro will break the contract with the Monorail Gold Consortium, responsible for the work on the monorail line 17-ouro (golden) in São Paulo, which has been paralyzed.
The company will also fine the consortium more than R$118 million, besides suspending its participation in new public contracts for a period of two years.
According to the government, the measure was taken "due to the unjustified delay in the execution schedule of the works".
