South America’s snow season draws tourists to ski resorts

June through September marks South America’s snow season, attracting numerous tourists to regional ski resorts.

These visitors, many from Brazil, frequent ski resorts in Argentina and Chile that offer diverse experiences for various skill levels, encompassing robust lodging facilities and après-ski activities.

In Argentina, Bariloche emerges as the favorite destination, owing to its charming city center, exquisite restaurants, and artisan chocolate factories.

Located close to the city, ski resorts such as Cerro Catedral and the Nordic Ski Center provide enthusiasts a comprehensive range of skiing and snowboarding options.

The Ski Centenario and Piedras Blancas also provide opportunities for winter sports, snow tubing, and other activities.

Chilean ski resorts near Santiago, such as El Colorado, La Parva, and Farellones, are less than a two-hour drive from the capital.

El Colorado Ski Resort is renowned for its ski and snowboard school that accommodates members of all ages and skill levels, including those with disabilities.

La Parva, situated at 2,700 meters above sea level, and Farellones offer a host of activities ranging from snow sports to ziplining and snowboarding with adapted bikes.

For those with extra time, the resorts of Valle Nevado and Portillo near Santiago are worth exploring, as is the region of Osorno, popularly known as the region of lakes and volcanoes.

These destinations provide an array of amenities for après-ski enthusiasts, alongside unique experiences like wine tasting, heli-skiing, and more.

Antillanca, surrounded by the Puyehue National Park, and the Osorno Volcanic Ski Center in Puerto Varas, offer a comprehensive set of snow sports, hiking trails, and gastronomic experiences.
