Jurerê Beach of the rich and beautiful in Florianópolis will soon be much larger

The City Hall of Florianópolis in Brazil’s Santa Catarina state has initiated a new tender for the widening project of Jurerê Beach, estimated to cost R$24 (around US$5) million.

The expansion project aims to extend the beach by 3.3 kilometers and is scheduled for completion before the upcoming summer season.

Jurerê Beach is recognized as a popular destination frequented by celebrities, particularly during the New Year festivities.

There may well be few other neighborhoods in Brazil that match Jurerê’s ostentatious wealth, elegance, beauty, and security.

The electronic bidding process will continue until August 8, with a five-month deadline for the execution of the project, as stated in the recently published bid notice in the Municipal Official Gazette on Tuesday (4).

The beach widening approach for Jurerê will follow a similar method previously employed at Canasvieiras and Inglese’s beaches.

This involves using dredging equipment to extract sand from the seabed, which is then deposited on the beach through a system of hoses.

This tender marks the city hall’s second attempt at the project.

The initial notice, issued in February 2023, had a total value of R$28 million but was subsequently suspended in March by the State Audit Court (TCE) due to identified irregularities.
