In a survey by the Themed Entertainment Association, in association with Aecom Consulting, two water parks from Brazil made it to the top ten most frequented worldwide.
Thermas dos Laranjais Park, located in Olímpia (SP), was fourth on the list, attracting 1.729 million visitors last year, while Hot Park Rio Quente, in Rio Quente (GO), was ninth with 1.43 million visitors in 2022.
The leader of the list was Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, part of the Walt Disney World complex near Orlando, USA, with more than 1.9 million visitors.
The survey acknowledged the impacts of the pandemic on all parks, noting recovery is underway compared to 2020 and 2021.
Thermas dos Laranjais opened in 1987, features more than 50 attractions spread over 300,000 square meters and is fed by the warm waters of the Guarani Aquifer.
Meanwhile, Hot Park Rio Quente, established in 1977, is renowned for its natural hot pools in an area of 55 square kilometers.
These two parks, along with several others, are keeping Brazil’s presence notable in the global water park industry.
Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, they are steadily reclaiming their visitor numbers and continue to provide unique recreational experiences to millions of visitors each year.
