Rio de Janeiro: highest number of femicides in six years 

The Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro recorded 110 murders of women last year.

This is evidenced by data from the Institute for Public Security (ISP), which reports to the state government. 

That's the highest number since 2017, the first full year since crime has been recorded in the state.

Comparing the figures with those of 2021 shows an increase of 29.4% (or 25 more cases).

Compared to 2017, the increase is 61.8% (42 more cases).
