Leaked WhatsApp messages from former British health minister reveal plan to launch “a new variant of Covid” 

Last March 4, scandalous news broke out in the United Kingdom.

The former British Minister of Health during the pandemic, Matt Hancock, coordinated with other government officials the possibility of leaking a new variant of the coronavirus to “scare” the population and be able to continue with quarantines in 2021.

The information was published by the prestigious media ‘The Telegraph’, which no one can accuse of being conspiratorial or right-wing.

In the article “The Lockdown Files”, the London newspaper revealed more than 100,000 WhatsApp messages between Boris Johnson’s government ministers.

For some reason, the news did not transcend beyond the shores of Great Britain, but it is a global scandal: ministers of one of the world powers carried out a mega-plan to maintain quarantines.

This confirms the suspicions that the governments saw with good eyes to keep the population locked up even though, in 2021, the danger of the pandemic was already over.

One name appears hundreds of times among the messages: “Project Fear”.

“This is a great opportunity to impose a new quarantine; we can’t miss the opportunity to activate Project Fear,” he wrote in a tweet in December 2020.

The leaked WhatsApp conversations began on December 13, 2020, two days after the SARS-CoV-2 Alpha variant was made public, with a message from Damon Pool, former Communications Secretary at the Ministry of Health, to Minister Hancock himself, informing him that Conservative Party MPs were “furious” at his public statements that new quarantines would be necessary to contain the new Covid variants.

Hancock replies to him not to worry because “the new variant” will be “very helpful” in “preparing the ground for Parliament to agree to new quarantines,” including “in the days before Christmas.”

“Let’s scare everyone with the new variant,” Hancock finished off in another message, adding, “The complication is that Brexit is taking the headlines [in the media].”

Poole replied, “Yes, with that, we are going to get the shift to appropriate [population] behavior.”

Immediately following, perhaps the most incriminating text messages.

Hancock sent a WhatsApp to Poole asking, “When do we release the new variant?”. To which his secretary replied, “Soon.”

On December 19, following the surge in cases due to the appearance of this variant, Boris Johnson announced that “Christmas was canceled”, decreeing a brutal quarantine over the end-of-year holidays.

In the days that followed, leaks show that Hancock spoke to other ministers celebrating how they managed to “convince” Boris Johnson that a new quarantine had to be imposed, despite the Prime Minister being “fundamentally” opposed to shutting down the economy.

In other messages, Hancock also shows his contempt for Simon Stevens, the chief executive of NHS England, one of the biggest opponents of quarantines during the pandemic.

“He needs to shut up and understand he is fucking up everything,” he wrote in another message.

“Stevens leaving would be a massive improvement,” he completed.

Stevens would be booted from his post on July 31, 2021, a few months after that exchange with the ministry’s special adviser, Allan Nixon.

In another batch of leaked messages in January 2021 about a WhatsApp chat group with other ministers, Poole advised the other officials to stop publishing a heat map of the areas where the most Covid cases were being recorded.

“This could help the whole population become scared of the coronavirus, not just those in the hot areas,” he messaged.

“It would help to promote our narrative that things are very bad,” Poole closed his message.

Simon Case, then chief of staff, responded, “the fear/blame factor is vital to our message.”

In the group, throughout the first month of 2021, Case, Hancock, and Poole talked about how to make the “fear message” more effective.

“We can reinforce the mandatory use of masks, that they be worn even in non-hazardous locations,” Hancock wrote.

“Basically, we need quarantine compliance to go up,” Case argued. “But we don’t have to go overboard because we may end up looking like a travesty.”

Hancock pressed, “I honestly wouldn’t push small things unless they’re part of a massive reinforcement. The only big thing we have left the same is to move on to geriatrics and offices.”

Case closed that dialogue: “I agree, I think you’re right. Small things look ridiculous. We have to reinforce the message outside”.

And he repeated: “The fear/blame factor is vital”.
