Neutral and pro-Russian bloggers are kidnapped, disappear and are even murdered

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – This news does not make it to the Western news agencies and therefore not to the mainstream press. Anyone on the territory of Ukraine who tries to report a neutral position of what is happening, or even to shed light on the Russian view of things, must expect to get in trouble.

One murder case has been documented, another journalist was kidnapped but luckily got free and another blogger was abducted in the EU country Latvia.

Do you know anyone who is so deeply involved in the Ukraine conflict that he denigrates anyone who points to the possibilities of peace, Ukraine’s surrender, ending the war, or even the guilt of both sides?

If you do you can understand the mood in parts of Ukraine. Except that there’s no more talking, there are fists flying and then bullets. In a state of war and with weapons freely distributed to the entire population, there is no hesitation.

Whoever is not for us is against us – and has to pay sometimes even with their life.

Especially from the moment when a murderer no longer has to fear any consequences. In Ukraine, according to the decree of Volodymyr Selenskyj, the murder of Russians is unpunished. One blogger with the wrong opinion was a Russian.

MURDER VICTIM VLADIMIR KULESHOW

The blogger Vladimir Kuleshov reported from Kherson. In his texts, he is said to have expressed sympathy for the Russian side. Kherson is located between Crimea and Mykolayiv (Nikolaev).

Many people of Russian origin living in this region, who have been massively discriminated against and killed by Ukrainian militias with the blessing of Kiev at least since the bloody coup in Ukraine in 2014.

With the current start of the war, many of them are “fair game.” It can be assumed that numerous dead people in Bucha belonged to the Russian minority as well.

The neo-Nazi Azov Regiment has a strong presence in the region, and its members do not shy away for long. Torture, manslaughter, and murder of “enemies” are the order of the day.

Kuleshov was shot dead in his car on the morning of April 20. He was volunteering to help families affected by the war and was reporting on the fighting in the city.

This presumably made him a target of Azov or Ukraine’s domestic intelligence service, the SBU.

GONZALO LIRA WAS ABDUCTED BUT GOT LUCKY

Blogger Gonzalo “Gonzo” Lira is a journalist of Chilean descent with an American passport. He reported from Kharkiv (Kharkov) and was also critical of the Ukrainian government. The locality is in northern eastern Ukraine.

His last sign of life on his Telegram channel, followed by over 90,000 people, was on April 15. Since then, he had disappeared. On Ukrainian channels, neo-Nazi leaders posted derisive comments and also used the insignia of a certain special unit that carried out the seizure.

Former United Nations intelligence officer Scott Ritter published an article in which he presentedted as fact the kidnapping, torture, and murder of Gonzalo Lira by the “octopus unit” of the Azov Regiment. It is not known what sources he relied on.

However, on Friday, April 22, a journalist friend posted an update along with Lira, so it is safe to assume that he survived the kidnapping, contrary to initial reports.

KIRIL FEDOROV ARRESTED AND ABDUCTED IN LATVIA

He runs one of the largest Russian-language YouTube channels (“History of Weapons”) and does not adhere to the narrative of the evil Russian expected in the West. Since the start of the war, Fedorov has regularly been the target of threats.

He was urged to make his reporting anti-Russian – a request he did not comply with. On March 17, he wanted to leave Riga to move to Russia, where he would have felt safer with his work.

The day before, he was arrested by unknown secret service forces in his parents’ apartment and abducted. Even after 48 hours he was unlawfully not released from detention, his lawyers and relatives would have been threatened by state authorities.

His whereabouts are unknown, he cannot be contacted. He is allegedly accused of “cooperation with Russian secret services.” Latvia is a member state of the EU.

That dissidents can be arrested and abducted in an EU state unchallenged for not reporting anti-Russia is a worrying development.
