Covering themselves with large T-shirts: the latest fashion among Parisian women to avoid aggression in the subway

By Fernando Beltran

Some young Parisian women have covered themselves with T-shirts much larger than their size to avoid sexual harassment in the subway.

This is reported in a CNews report on the latest fashion among Parisian women who use public transport.

To avoid the risk of being sexually assaulted in the Paris subway, which has recently increased, some women believe they have found a solution using the technique of the so-called subway shirt, which consists of hiding, thanks to a large T-shirt, the uncovered parts of their bodies.

This fashion has spread rapidly in recent weeks on social networks, reports the same media, which notes that one in two women say they renounce to dress as they would like in the street or on public transport for fear of stares and comments.

This new habit does not seem to be exclusive to the French capital.

In New York, the trend also seems to have caught on among young women on TikTok.

This is the case of Claire Wenrick, who has shared on her social networks why she wears the T-shirt while traveling on the subway in New York.

“It’s a way to protect my safety going from point A to point B,” Wenrick said to The Guardian.

“I don’t want to make myself a target, as strange as that sounds,” added the young woman.
