Paraguayan truck drivers reject partial fuel rebate
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The National Federation of Truckers of Paraguay rejected on March 16 the reduction in the tax rates of two types of diesel fuel and gasoline and stated they would continue with the interruptions in the highways.
In this sense, the entity specified that the Fuel Price Stabilization Fund is awaiting approval by the Paraguayan Congress; it also explained that the new measure decreed by President Mario Abdo does not send a good signal to the citizens of the nation.
The Fuel Price Stabilization Fund aims to contain the price of diesel type three, necessary for sectors such as freight and cargo trucks, the main transport of fruits and vegetables.

“After finalizing details with the cabinet, I have signed the bill that creates the Fuel Price Stabilization Fund. This measure will be submitted to the National Congress immediately, requesting urgent treatment,” the president posted on his Twitter.
“We do not want to be a privileged group; we want the reductions for all citizens,” pointed out the president of the National Federation of Truck Drivers, Ángel Zaracho.
For his part, the president of the Misiones Truckers Association, José Irala, confirmed that the reduction in the price of only two types of fuel in the state-owned Petróleos de Paraguay is not one of the requests of the transport sector.
At the same time, the leader, José Irala, emphasized that eliminating the selective tax is fundamental and the reduction of taxes on all fuels, mainly cooking gas.
