Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel was received by French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna ahead of the summit for a new global financial pact, as announced by the Cuban Foreign Ministry.
Díaz-Canel’s visit to Paris followed his trips to the Vatican, Italy, and Serbia.
“The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, is received by the French Foreign Minister, Catherine Colonna, at the Brongniart Palace in Paris, to participate in his capacity as President of the 77 Group and China in the Summit for a New Global Financial Pact,” shared the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Twitter.
In January, Cuba assumed the temporary presidency of the G-77 plus China, a platform encompassing 134 countries from Latin America, Africa, and South Asia.
President Díaz-Canel arrived in Paris on the evening of June 21st, following his visits to the Vatican, Italy, and Serbia.
Over the course of June 22nd and 23rd, France will host more than 300 high-level participants, including heads of state and government, representatives from international organizations, the private sector, and civil society.
The summit, initiated by French President Emmanuel Macron, aims to establish a new global financial pact to address the collective challenges of the 21st century, particularly the fight against inequality, climate change, and the preservation of biodiversity.
