Chile: Ministry of Finance introduces the use of ChatGPT

The Chilean Ministry of Finance’s government lab approved OpenAI’s ChatGPT Plus, citing the artificial intelligence platform’s “specialization in dialogues, as it is a language model adapted with supervised learning and reinforcement techniques, based on the GPT-4 model.”

The order was published on May 17 in Mercado Público with a maximum budget of US$1,250.

The license was purchased from Flex SSS SpA for 12 months and four accounts.

CHATGPT: THE AI THAT REVOLUTIONIZED CONTENT CREATION

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence model that processes large amounts of data and text to learn patterns in human language.

The platform can thus recognize patterns and contexts to produce coherent and compelling text on various topics for writing articles, summaries, and reports, solving logic problems, and creating content such as poetry, music, stories, and more.

While a version can be used for free, ChatGPT Plus costs US$20 per month for a standard subscription or US$238 per year, according to its website.

However, the license also includes technical consulting, which a third party provides.

The Ministry of Finance, they said, “requires the contracting” of ChatGPT, “which is aligned with the collaborative work of the institution and facilitates the creation of coherent texts, the analysis and extraction of information, the review of lines of program code, and other diverse applications.”

They also emphasized that the platform would serve for periods of high demand, ensuring greater speed of response and priority access to new developments and features.

ChatGPT has enjoyed great popularity since its launch a few months ago but has also raised concerns about the confidentiality of the data used.

In this regard, the executive director of the “Laboratorio de Gobierno”, Orlando Rojas, stressed that the platform “was launched as a useful tool for reviewing and generating texts.

The most important focus is communicating the understanding of generative artificial intelligence to the laboratory’s officials so that they can understand their use and risks.
