During the recent G20 meeting on October 30 and 31, Presidents Fernandez and Putin had scheduled a virtual bilateral meeting that could not take place as planned.

Last June 4, on the occasion of the beginning of the production in Argentina of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V as the first country in Latin America to manufacture such immunogen, the two heads of state held a meeting.

Before this bilateral meeting, in April, the presidents had agreed on an agenda, in which they addressed the issue of Argentina’s negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in addition to expressing their common will to consolidate the strategic alliance in other fields such as electro-energy and industry.

The comprehensive strategic alliance between Russia and Argentina dates back to April 2015, when the head of the Russian government Putin and the then Argentine President Cristina Fernández, signed a cooperation agreement in Moscow.
