China Wants to Expand Bilateral Business Operations with Brazil in Pandemic

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – China’s Ambassador to Brazil, Yang Wanming, used up virtually all his time on a live broadcast organized by the Business Leaders Group (LIDE), in which he was the main guest, to underscore his views on the extent of the growth potential of trade relations between the two countries.

He said that on the Chinese end, the government has been striving to boost business between China and Brazil and that measures are currently being taken to make this happen.

“We want to conduct bilateral operations with Brazil in the context of the coronavirus pandemic. We will work to expand Sino-Brazilian bilateral partnerships,” said the ambassador, for whom there is great scope for growth in trade between Brazil and China.

“I see room for growth of partnerships in infrastructure, agribusiness, energy, and health,” Yang said.

Tourism is yet another area the ambassador believes has tremendous growth potential. He said 60,000 Chinese visit Brazil annually and believes Brazil could simplify visa policy to attract more Chinese tourists.

Furthermore, according to the Chinese ambassador, there is also ample room for growth in the relations between the two countries in the field of education.

According to him, Brazil is an educational power in Latin America and there is a large number of young Chinese studying in Brazil. But in his view, there could be more. “We want to engage in exchanges with Brazil,” Yang said.
