Brazil’s Mato Grosso state implements Blockchain system for public administration

Mato Grosso, Brazil, a powerhouse in agriculture, is embracing digital transformation by implementing blockchain technology in its public administration.

The state, the third largest by area, is located in the Central-West region. has 1.66% of the Brazilian population and is responsible for 1.9% of the Brazilian GDP.

The government aims to enhance internal processes and citizen services by utilizing a blockchain platform that integrates with existing systems and connects with IoT, cloud computing, and AI applications.

The platform is expected to be operational by 2025, with discussions underway to explore tokenization tools for economic stimulation.

Mato Grosso’s focus on digital transformation is reflected in the Digital Transformation Acceleration Program, established to optimize and develop technologies that meet public service and citizen demands.

Since the introduction of the Mais MT program, the state has made significant progress in digital governance, leading to a higher position in the Competitiveness Ranking of the States.

The government aims to expand e-services further through the Mato Grosso Platform, optimize resources,, and invest in digital transformation.

The State Planning Secretariat and the Mato Grosso Information Technology Company have been assigned responsibilities to achieve these goals by year-end.

Another initiative by the Mato Grosso government involves using artificial intelligence to provide personalized recommendations for services and public information.

This project aims to improve communication processes and access to information based on citizens’ specific needs.

By leveraging information technology, Mato Grosso strives to foster an inclusive and democratic society, enhancing its relationship with the public and improving the availability of public services.

AGRICULTURE POWERHOUSE

In 2020, Mato Grosso was the leader in national grain production, with 28.0%.

It’s the largest producer of soy in Brazil, with 26.9% of the total produced in 2020, the largest producer of maize in the country, and the largest cotton producer in Brazil, with around 65% of national production.

It is the country’s sixth largest sugarcane producer, with 16 million tons harvested in the 2019/20 harvest, and the third largest producer of beans, with 10.5% of Brazilian production.
