Brazilian companies launch a satellite in the US.

The VCUB1 nano-satellite was launched on Saturday (15) from the Vandenberg Launch Base in California (US).

According to the aircraft manufacturer, the VCUB1 is the first Earth Observation and Data Collection satellite built by the Brazilian industry.

The initiative aims to show the capacity of the Brazilian industry to carry out advanced space missions.

According to Embraer, the mission should validate the satellite’s architecture and software to use them in larger satellites.

“The VCUB1 launch is historic for the Brazilian aerospace industry because it places the country in a select group of nations that dominate the entire satellite development process and enables us for even greater flights,” said João Paulo Campos, president of Visiona Tecnologia Espacial.

The project received financial support from the Brazilian Industrial Research and Innovation Corporation (Embrapii) and the Senai Innovation Institute.

It was also supported by a network of partners, such as the government of Santa Catarina, the National Center for Natural Disaster Monitoring and Alerts (Cemaden), the National Institute for Space Research (Inpe), and the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), among others.
