Brazil: Ibovespa rises with a positive sign of Central Bank nominee
Ibovespa, the Brazilian Stock Exchange (B3) main index, rose 0.31% and closed the day at 107,000 points.
In addition, the new Central Bank nominee gave his first press conference statement.
This was the fifth consecutive session in which the indicator rose.
The dollar, meanwhile, ended the day down 0.75%, quoted at R$4.95.
Market players reflected on the release of the US Consumer Price Index (CPI) data, which advanced slower than expected in April, showing that the interest rate policy adopted by the Federal Reserve – the US equivalent of the Central Bank – has had an effect.
With the possible control of inflation, a loosening of monetary policies is expected, which would benefit the Brazilian currency and currencies of other emerging countries.
Improving the relationship between risk and return in comparison to the dollar.
The first conversation between Gabriel Galípolo, Finance Minister Fernando Haddad’s nominee for the Secretariat of the Central Bank (BC), and journalists made a good impression on the domestic scene, mainly by adopting a conciliatory discourse between the government and the organ.
In the background, the progress of the framework in Congress was also on investors’ radar.
The project’s rapporteur, Representative Cláudio Cajado (PP-BA), said he may postpone the delivery of the report until next week, which aroused the interest of the agents.
