Beyoncé turns 40. See the artists that the diva influences in Brazil
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – This Saturday (9/4), the American singer Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter turns 40 years. From a young age, through the girl group Destiny’s Child to the present day, the pop star has worked constantly to build a cultural and musical legacy.
It is not uncommon for artists and personalities around the world to have, in their work, the direct influence of the diva.
IZA
In Brazil, it is no different. Such is the case of IZA. The 31-year-old singer does not hide her admiration for Beyoncé and her inspiration since the beginning of her career. “I recently released Gueto, where I remember where I came from and take a trip through my trajectory, and her musical Black is King was undoubtedly a model for this release,” she reveals.

The Carioca, who recently became the most influential Brazilian celebrity of 2021, says that Beyoncé presented the possibility of being proud of her roots. “She inspired and encouraged me to talk about where I came from, and that was very special. It was liberation and pride that I had to tell the world who I am and where I came from.”
ISMAEL CARVALHO
Like Iza, the influencer Ismael Carvalho, 29, says that the singer played an important role in building his identity: “Beyoncé made me see myself as a black, gay man and that I had the right to be in places, to occupy, to believe in myself”, he recalls.
A content producer for a year, the Bahian doesn’t spare any comments about the impact that the singer has, above all, on the black population. That’s why he chose the musical film Black is King as the pop diva’s favorite moment.

“She wanted to change the interpretation of the word black in the world from the rescue of self-esteem and ancestry. Besides communicating directly with us. It is, without a doubt, a gift to the world.”
MEL
At 30, singer Mel agrees with Carvalho about Beyoncé’s relevance for the black community, especially women. The artist recalls that her first contact with the pop star was as a teenager. “The first memory I have of her is the cover Dangerously in Love. Bey was the first international black pop diva of my life. It was love at first sight,” she recalls.
The artist believes it is almost impossible to get away from having Beyoncé as a reference. “She is the greatest, and obviously, we end up taking inspiration from her in almost everything! I myself would love her waistline, and I’m going to fight for it.

MC CAROL
The debut album Dangerously in Love definitely put Beyoncé on the world music scene. And it was from it that Mc Carol, 27, got to know the song Me Myself and I. “Ever since I paid attention to those lyrics, I was in love. I’m a Libra, and I believe in love, I believe in people, which always ends up with a broken heart. Then I learned to believe in my love for myself instead, and this song touches me in that sense. It really touches me!

BIANCA DELLAFANCY
Drag queen Bianca DellaFancy, 31, recalls that her first contact with Beyoncé was through family heritage. “My paternal family is huge fans of R&B and Hip Hop, so as a teenager, I had access to Destiny ‘s DVD and got hooked on the song No, No, No.”
The digital influencer says it is challenging to choose Queen Be’s favorite album. Still, she is between Beyoncé and Lemonade because “in both the sound quality is impeccable and the cultural aspects stand out. From these releases, she dictated a new way of creating content, this certainly changed my outlook as a producer.”

For Bianca, Beyoncé has historical importance that mobilizes the way of thinking and acting. “It got to the point that we are thinking and rethinking different issues because of her. All because of the art she produces. The cat moves culture, her work perpetuates it.”
NEW PROJECTS
In a recent interview with the American magazine Harper’s Bazaar, Beyoncé stated that she intends to release new music.
Her last solo work, the album Lemonade, is from 2016. “With all the isolation and injustice of the past year, I think we’re all ready to escape, travel, love, and laugh again. I feel a renaissance emerging, and I want to be a part of creating that escape in every way possible. I’ve been in the studio for a year and a half,” said the singer.
