Argentina’s Inflation Slows to 13.2% in February

Argentina’s February inflation at 13.2%, per Indec, continues slowdown from 25.5% in December, to 20.6% in January.

Year-to-date, inflation has reached 36.6%, with the 12-month rate at 276.2%.

This figure fell below the 15.8% forecast by the Central Bank of Argentina’s REM survey, paralleling Brazil’s Focus Bulletin.

Indec attributes February’s highest inflation surge to the communication sector at 24.7%, spurred by increases in telephone and internet services.

Transportation followed at 21.6%, influenced by public transport fare adjustments, and household expenses at 20.2%, reflecting higher costs for water, electricity, gas, and other fuels.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages experienced significant pressure at 11.9%, notably from meat, bread, cereals, and dairy products.

The sectors with the lowest price changes were recreation and culture at 8.6% and clothing and footwear at 7.2%.
