For the seventh time in a row, agribusiness increased its participation in Brazil’s trade balance in the year’s first quarter.
The information is the result of a survey conducted by Revista Oeste based on data from the federal government.
From January to March 2023, agribusiness in the country earned US$36 billion, an amount that corresponds to 47% of all export revenues in Brazil in the period.

A year earlier, the share closed at 46% for the same period.
The last record of a larger share for the sector occurred in the first quarter of 2016 (50%).
The products of the agricultural sector encompass more than just fresh items, such as seeds and fruits.
The sector’s mix also involves production outside the farm gate, formed, for example, by bran, vegetable oils, cellulose, sugar, and ethanol – and these are of higher added value.
The data show that most of the revenue from agribusiness exports is related to agribusiness – a little more than half of the total.
The soybean complex stands out among the agribusiness segments with the best performance, responsible for US$14 billion.
In the second position are meat sales (US$5.5 billion).
WHERE DO THE PRODUCTS OF BRAZILIAN AGRIBUSINESS GO?
Of the destinations, China figures as the largest buyer of Brazilian agribusiness.
The Asian country was responsible for US$11.5 billion in imports from the sector in the first quarter.
The European Union is in second place (US$5 billion), followed by the United States (US$2 billion).
These three markets accounted for more than half of the revenues from national agribusiness exports.
