São Paulo Daily Brief — Friday, July 10, 2026
Make today the outdoor day: sun dominates with little cloud and a 12°C-to-26°C swing before a cold front turns the weather on Sunday.
The headline is a double bill — the Rolex 6 Horas de São Paulo opens its three-day run at the Autódromo de Interlagos while Spain meet Belgium in a World Cup quarter-final at 4 pm Brasília, live on CazéTV.
On B3, the Ibovespa closed Thursday up 1.22% at 172,742.12 points and all eyes turn to this morning’s IPCA inflation print.
In one line: sunshine, hypercars, a quarter-final and free Friday-night art — a proper paulistano Friday.

Weather & What to Wear
FOUR-DAY OUTLOOK
A cold start — CGE stations read about 13°C at dawn, from 9.5°C in Parelheiros to 14.2°C at Sé — then strong sun lifts the city towards 26°C with humidity dipping near 35%.
Layers are the answer: a proper coat for the morning, shirtsleeves by 2 pm, and lip balm — July has seen 0 mm of rain so far and the air is desert-dry.
Enjoy it while it lasts: Saturday climbs to about 27°C before cloud builds ahead of the front, then Sunday brings isolated showers with 13–21°C and Monday tops out around 18°C.
Sunset today: ≈5:35 pm

What to See & Do
FRIDAY IN SÃO PAULO
Ibirapuera by day, a quarter-final at 4, MASP free by night
Commit to the sunshine: start in Parque Ibirapuera (Vila Mariana side) and catch “Bença!” at the Museu Afro Brasil Emanoel Araujo — Gate 10, Av. Pedro Álvares Cabral — open Tue–Sun 10 am–5 pm and closing this Sunday 12 July, tickets R$15 (R$7.50 half).
If the football festival tempts you, the Arena Brasileira World Cup festival runs at Ibirapuera until 19 July, tickets R$110–400 — big screens, music and football in one place.
At 4 pm, plant yourself for Spain v Belgium, the Friday quarter-final from Los Angeles on CazéTV — Bar da Dona Onça under the Copan (Centro) or Atlântico 212 (see Gameday) both have Cup screens.
Finish on Avenida Paulista: MASP opens Friday 10 am–9 pm with free entry from 6 pm to 8.30 pm, online booking obligatory; paid entry is R$75 (R$37 half).
Inside right now: Damián Ortega: matéria e energia and Acervo em Transformação — Doações Recentes, both until 13 September, plus Santiago Yahuarcani, on until August.
This is textbook inverno seco: full sun, top of 26°C and humidity near 35%, so run or cycle early, carry water and expect a nose-tickling afternoon.
Note the official cold flag still flies — the city’s Civil Defence has held a low-temperature attention state since 3 July — so dawn exercisers in Ibirapuera or along the Pinheiros river path should wrap up.
Sunset lands around 5:35 pm; the MASP vão livre or Praça do Pôr do Sol in Pinheiros are the classic golden-hour spots before the temperature dives.
Laptop morning: Coffee Lab on Rua Fradique Coutinho (Vila Madalena) does serious single-origin brews in a roastery setting, while Takkø Café in Pinheiros is the quieter corner for a long espresso-and-emails session.
For a full desk day, the WeWork and Cubo Itaú towers along Faria Lima (Itaim Bibi/Pinheiros) sell day passes and sit two blocks from Fradique Coutinho station on Linha 4-Amarela.
Fair warning: it is Friday after a holiday, so cafés fill from mid-morning — arrive before 10 am or book a coworking slot online.
Allergic to sunshine? The MIS opens its new Raul Seixas exhibition, “O Baú do Raul”, with a pre-premiere from this Friday ahead of the Dia do Rock — at Avenida Europa 158, Jardim Europa.
Expect hundreds of original items across more than 15 immersive rooms; regular hours are Tue–Fri 10 am–7 pm and tickets R$30 (R$15 half).
Free alternative in Centro: “Foto de Quebrada” at the Museu das Favelas, Largo Páteo do Colégio 148, Tue–Sun 10.30 am–2 pm, until 26 July — entrance free.
Art first: MASP’s free Friday window runs 6 pm–8.30 pm entry, with the museum open to 9 pm — book the slot online, then walk Paulista while it is buzzing.
Film people should note the São Paulo Audiovisual Hub at FAAP (Higienópolis) runs to Sunday with screenings including Tinnitus plus a director Q&A — free entry with registration.
Dance card: the Jornada Paulista de Dança plays the Estação Motiva Cultural, Praça Júlio Prestes 16, Campos Elíseos, 10–12 July as part of the Campos do Jordão winter festival.
Otherwise it is a classic dry Friday for Vila Madalena’s bar corners around Rua Aspicuelta — busy, cold after 10 pm, and best reached by app car or Linha 2-Verde to Vila Madalena.
Rolex 6 Horas de São Paulo — practice day — Autódromo de Interlagos, Av. Senador Teotônio Vilela 261 — Friday is free-practice day as teams set up for qualifying and Sunday’s race; tickets via Ticketmaster, children 0–12 free with a paying adult.
World Cup quarter-final: Spain v Belgium — 4 pm Brasília, from Los Angeles, on CazéTV — bar screens across town; see Gameday.
O Baú do Raul — pre-premiere — MIS, Av. Europa 158, Jardim Europa — pre-opening from this Friday; Tue–Fri 10 am–7 pm, R$30/R$15.
Arena Brasileira festival — Parque Ibirapuera, gates 2 and 10 — daily until 19 July, tickets R$110–400, football screens plus music.
São Paulo Audiovisual Hub — FAAP, Rua Alagoas 903, Higienópolis — runs to Sunday 13 July, free with advance registration.
Festival de Inverno de São Roque — Centro Cultural Brasital, São Roque (60 km) — free entry through 12 July, with Vanessa da Mata headlining tonight, 10 July.

Getting Around
TRANSPORT
Rodízio is back after yesterday’s holiday: Friday restricts plates ending 9 and 0, from 7–10 am and 5–8 pm in the Centro Expandido, and the fine is R$130.16 plus four licence points — heading to Interlagos by car, leave between windows or after 8 pm.
On rails, Linha 6-Laranja is not running on 9 and 10 July, but CPTM reports normal circulation on all its lines Friday and Saturday with no planned works; the Metrô runs daily 4.40 am to midnight and a 24-hour rail-only pass costs R$20.50 — Interlagos is an easy hop on Linha 9-Esmeralda to Autódromo station.
05
Where to Eat
LUNCH & DINNER
Lunch: Sun this good calls for the Mercadão-adjacent buzz of Centro: grab the famous pork sandwich counter seats at A Casa do Porco (Praça Dom José Gaspar) if you can queue, or slide into Bar da Dona Onça under the Copan for feijoada-grade Brazilian comfort at friendly mid-range prices. Both fill fast on Fridays — go before 12.30 pm.
Dinner: Post-match, Pinheiros delivers: Bráz Pizzaria on Rua Vupabussu for the definitive paulistana pizza at moderate prices, or cross to Famiglia Mancini on Rua Avanhandava (Centro) for old-school cantina theatre if you want the full Friday-night spectacle. Book or arrive by 7.30 pm.
06
Practical Info
GOOD TO KNOW
Dress in layers for the 12°C-to-26°C swing, and carry water and moisturiser — humidity sits near 35% today, which sneaks up on newcomers.
Pix and cards rule everywhere from feiras to taxis, but keep R$20–30 in notes for park vendors; and remember MASP requires online booking even for its free Friday-evening window.
One safety note: around Luz and Campos Elíseos after dark — including leaving the Jornada de Dança — keep your phone pocketed on the street and take an app car from the venue door rather than walking to the Metrô.
07
Community & Lifestyle
FOR NEWCOMERS
Networking gift for creative expats: the Audiovisual Hub at FAAP gathers more than 200 professionals from Brazil and 25 countries through Sunday — free, English-friendly and the easiest room in town to meet industry people this week.
Otherwise Friday is language-exchange night in Vila Madalena and Pinheiros bar territory; newcomers plug in fastest via InterNations São Paulo and the city’s expat and digital-nomad groups on Meetup and WhatsApp, most of which convene around Pinheiros.
08
Game Day
MATCH DAY — AND ENGINES AT INTERLAGOS
The Cup rolls on without Brazil — the Seleção’s elimination even nudged consumer stocks on Monday — and today it is Spain against Belgium, 4 pm Brasília, in Los Angeles, live on CazéTV.
Where to watch: Atlântico 212, chef Stefan Weitbrecht’s grill-and-oyster bar, is showing every match of the tournament, and Bar da Dona Onça in the Copan (Centro) runs a lively Cup set-up with LED screens; Pirajá’s branches in Faria Lima, Itaim and Pinheiros are dependable back-ups.
Saturday completes the bracket: England face Norway — Brazil’s conquerors — at 6 pm, and Argentina meet Switzerland at 10 pm, following France’s 2–0 win over Morocco on Thursday.
Meanwhile Interlagos builds through free practice today and qualifying Saturday to Sunday’s six-hour race; domestic football stays quiet, with the Brasileirão paused for the Cup until 21 July.

Business & Markets
WEEK IN FIGURES
Thursday on B3: the Ibovespa rose 1.22% to 172,742.12 in a session of thin liquidity owing to São Paulo’s 9 July holiday, and banks did the pulling — Santander Brasil up 2.54% and Banco do Brasil 2.41%; the dollar eased 0.48% to R$5.1238.
The story behind it: oil gave back Wednesday’s spike as investors bet the US and Iran can return to talks, and New York rose on renewed tech and AI optimism.
Ahead today at 9 am: June’s IPCA, with the market median at 0.31% on the month and 4.79% over 12 months — above the inflation-target ceiling and key for the Selic debate; also on the radar, Washington’s tariff decision on Brazilian imports, due by the legal deadline of 15 July.
10

FAQ
QUICK ANSWERS
Is the rodízio back on today after Thursday’s holiday?
Yes. The restriction is suspended only on weekends and holidays, so this Friday it applies in full.
Plates ending 9 and 0 are barred from the Centro Expandido 7–10 am and 5–8 pm; outside those windows you may drive freely.
If caught, it is a R$130.16 fine and four points — Waze and Google Maps will route you around the zone if you register your plate.
Where can I watch tonight’s quarter-final if I don’t have Brazilian TV?
Kick-off is 4 pm Brasília time, with the match streamed free on CazéTV — a YouTube-based channel, no subscription needed.
Prefer a crowd? Atlântico 212 is transmitting every match of the tournament, and Bar da Dona Onça in the Copan building has Cup screens and a lively room.
For the full fan-park feel, the Arena Brasileira festival at Ibirapuera runs until 19 July with big screens alongside the music.
Interlagos this weekend: go today or wait for the race?
Today is free practice, when teams shake down the cars — the quietest, cheapest way to wander the circuit and Fan Zone with children, who enter free up to age 12 with a paying adult.
The main event is Sunday: the six-hour race with hypercars at full tilt down the Interlagos straight — but note Sunday also carries the weekend’s shower risk, so pack a layer.
Buy through Ticketmaster, the event’s official seller, and go by train: Linha 9-Esmeralda to Autódromo station beats the car park queues, and every grandstand ticket includes Fan Zone access.
