RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – When visiting any country, staying connected to the internet has become important for people. Some people want to stay connected with their family members and peers while they are on a trip, others have to work remotely through the internet or manage their business through the internet. When you are visiting Brazil then you can stay connected to the internet by employing different methods.

You can stay connected to the internet as long as you want to while you are in Brazil as there are several ways by which you can stay connected to the internet. There is the option of using a portable WiFi router, using a public WiFi network, buying a prepaid SIM card, or using the data roaming option. We will be discussing each of these options in detail and then let you know which one is the best option to access the internet in Brazil during your stay there.

PORTABLE WIFI ROUTER

First off, we have the option of a portable WiFi router which is the best way by which you can stay connected to the internet for a long period. These routers are also called travel routers, hotspot wifi, mini routers, travel routers, etc. The use of portable WiFi routers has increased among travelers to access the internet on the go because of the ease by which you can access the internet through a hotspot router.

Wherever you are, you will be able to access the internet. A portable WiFi router is small and lightweight & can fit easily into your pocket without causing any sort of inconvenience. These are modern devices that can transmit signals up to a radius of 15 meters and allow more than 10 devices to connect to the internet simultaneously. You can configure your portable through the default gateway address of the router i.e 192.168.0.1.

These devices offer unlimited high-speed 4G LTE internet with an average speed of 100 Mbps. In metropolitans of the country, you will find the internet to be blazing fast but in other areas, you will be able to use the internet at average speeds.

PUBLIC WIFI NETWORKS

Public WiFi Networks are also an option that is available to most travelers while visiting Brazil. This option is almost free as compared to others. When visiting a public place like a bar, cafe, coffee shop, or restaurant then you can access free public WiFi networks in these places but you should make a minimum purchase while you are visiting these places.

The problem with these WiFi networks is that the internet speeds are poor and sometimes, you cannot find free WiFi networks in some small cities. Another major problem is that the connection is not secure because the default gateway address i.e 192.168.1.1 is not secure. This is a major problem, especially when you are doing something important like making an online transaction, which is why most people avoid using public WiFi networks.

A PREPAID SIM CARD

Buying a prepaid SIM card and using that to access the internet in Brazil is another handy option. Although compared to using a portable WiFi router, this option is not the best option but it gets the job done. You have different network providers in Brazil like TIM, Claro, Brasil Telecom, Vivo and you can choose the provider that provides the package that best meets your needs.

Brazilian providers are now offering special packages for tourists only that include local calls, international calls, and also internet access. You can choose the package that you find the most appropriate and then buy a SIM card, which you can get easily from a local shop or even at the airport. You will, however, have to make sure that your phone is compatible with the local frequency bands, otherwise, the SIM card won’t work on your mobile phone.

DATA ROAMING

The last option that you have available is the data roaming option, which is the worst option available. If you choose this option to stay connected to the internet then you will get a very high invoice receipt. Network providers charge a lot for data roaming, over 1$ per MB which makes this a very expensive option. If you are visiting Brazil or any country in the world then it is the worst option that you have available to stay connected to the internet.
