Government provides for investments of over US$20 billion for Brazil’s reindustrialization during Lula’s term

The vice president and Minister of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services (Mdic), said on Thursday, 6, that there is a forecast of R$106.16 (over US$20) billion in resources for reindustrialization in the four years of Lula’s government between financing and non-reimbursable sources.

Alckmin presented the figures at the National Council for Industrial Development (CNDI) ‘s first meeting this morning at the Planalto Palace.

The amount is based on the resources foreseen for 2023, among sources from the National Economic and Social Development Bank (BNDES), the Study and Project Financing Agency (Finep), and the Brazilian Industrial Research and Innovation Company (Embrapii).

Through BNDES alone, the government estimates financing disbursements of R$65.1 billion over four years.

According to Alckmin, in this first meeting of the CNDI, the Industry “conselhão” approved the missions for the neoindustrialization policy that will organize the body’s debate in the coming months.

The Mdic expects to launch a plan by the end of the year.

“There is all the commitment to the energy transition and decarbonization,” said Alckmin, who also highlighted the expected signing of the first management contract for the Amazon Center for Bione Business (CBA).
