La Chola Poblete: Pop andino (through Aug 2) combines pre-Columbian iconography with pop art. Claudia Alarcón & Silät: viver tecendo (through Aug 2) presents 25 Wichí textile works. Free from 18h to 20h30 tonight. Tomorrow opens Cinco ensaios sobre o MASP — Renoir, reuniting the museum’s Renoir collection.

Pinacoteca — Nocaute + Macunaíma é Duwid

LUZ

Pascale Marthine Tayou: Knockout! fills all seven Pina Luz galleries — the Cameroonian artist’s first institutional show in Brazil. At Pina Estação, Macunaíma é Duwid offers an indigenous reading of Mário de Andrade’s centenary classic. Cristina Salgado: A mãe contempla o mar continues in the Octógono. All through August 2. Free Saturdays — plan ahead for tomorrow.

Pre-MASP dinner: With zero rain and 29°C, the R. Augusta and R. Haddock Lobo restaurant strips are at their best for al fresco dining before the 18h free window. Japan House restaurant offers a Japanese-Brazilian menu five minutes from the MASP.

Weekend planning: Saturday’s Pinacoteca free day pairs well with the Mercadão (15-minute walk south from Pina Luz) for the classic mortadela sandwich and pastel de bacalhau. Sunday’s Feira da Liberdade from 9h is the city’s best Asian street food market.
