The itinerance of the 36th Bienal de São Paulo (opened March 7, patrocínio Vale) brings 19 Brazilian and international artists exploring encounter, diversity and respect. Guilhermina Augusti‘s first institutional solo show (opened March 14) runs alongside it. Saturday brings the next major opening: No Martins: Sortilégios de desvio at 15h — the first institutional solo for the painter of Black Brazilian life. Free entry on Tuesdays; free Saturdays throughout March.

CCBB — Last Thursday for Vetores-Vertentes
Vetores-Vertentes: Fotógrafas do Pará closes Monday, March 30. This is the last Thursday to see 160 works by 11 Amazonian women photographers. The CCBB Educativo programme runs shadow theatre and Amazonian storytelling tied to the show today at 14h30. Viva Mauricio (immersive Turma da Mônica, ground floor, free) continues through April 13.

MAM Rio — Daniel Buren Voile/Toile
Eleven vertical-striped Optimist sails from the January Guanabara Bay regatta, hung in finishing order — a conceptual project begun in 1975, now in its first Brazilian presentation. Through April 12. The sculpture garden and permanent collection are also open. Free admission.

The 5th edition of Rio state’s flagship tourism expo opens today at the Complexo Lagoon. All 92 municipalities present their gastronomy, artisanato, and tourist routes across the 12 official regions. The boulevard gastronômico lines the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas waterfront. Tonight’s main stage: Benzadeus at 18h30 and Vitor Kley at 20h (shows area opens 18h). 04Getting AroundTRANSPORT
For ExpoRio at Lagoon: Metrô Line 1 to Jardim de Alah or Line 4 to Jardim Oceânico and bus back. The Lagoon venue is a short walk from the Corte do Cantagalo bike path. Expect crowds from 18h when the shows area opens — arrive early for the stage.
For the MAR and CCBB: Line 1 to Uruguaiana → VLT to Parada dos Museus. Both museums are a five-minute walk apart in the Porto Maravilha district.
For the MAM: Line 1 to Cinelândia or Largo do Machado, then walk through Parque do Flamengo (~15 min). Bring water for the 30°C walk.

At ExpoRio: The boulevard gastronômico along the Lagoa waterfront features regional producers from across the state — this is the best food event of the week. Sample dishes from the Serrana, Costa Verde, and Norte Fluminense regions in one stop.
Porto Maravilha circuit: If visiting the MAR and CCBB, the Praça Mauá area has expanded its restaurant scene. The CCBB café serves light meals inside. For something more substantial, walk to Rua do Ouvidor or Travessa do Comércio in Centro for traditional carioca botequins.
