There was a 1.2% month-on-month increase and an 8.1% increase compared to March 2021. Production was from 131 wells.
NATURAL GAS
In March, natural gas utilization was 97.8%. A total of 51.7 MMm³/day was made available to the market. Gas flared for the month was 2.9 MMm³/d, down 2% from the previous month and down 6.2% from the same month in 2021.
ORIGIN
In March, 97.1% of oil and 86.9% of natural gas were produced from offshore fields. Petrobras-operated fields were responsible for 94.2% of Brazil’s oil and natural gas.
HIGHLIGHTS
In March, the Tupi field in the Santos Basin was the largest oil and natural gas producer, with 906 MMbbl/d of oil and 43 MMm3/d of natural gas.
The Petrobras 77 platform, produced from five connected wells in the Búzios field, produced 156.496 Mbbl/d of oil, making it the rig with the highest oil production.
FPSO Cidade de Itaguaí, produced in the Tupi field through seven interconnected wells, was the rig with the highest natural gas production at 7.794 MMm³/d.
Estreito in the Potiguar Basin had the most onshore production wells, with 949 wells.
Tupi in the Santos Basin was the offshore field with the most production wells: 61.
Fields with marginal accumulation.
These fields produced 293 boe/d, including 92.3 bbl/d of oil and 31.9 Mm³/d of natural gas. The Iraí field, operated by Petroborn, was the largest producer at 191.2 boe/d.
OTHER INFORMATION
As of March 2022, 273 areas had been approved, five areas for onerous transfer and six areas for joint use, operated by 41 companies, were responsible for national production. Of these, 63 were offshore, and 221 were onshore, 12 of which were in areas with marginal reserves. Production was from 6,143 wells, of which 466 were offshore and 5,677 onshore.
The average API grade of oil produced in Brazil was 28.2, with 2.1% of production classified as light oil (>=31° API), 92.6% as medium oil (>=22 API and <31 API), and 5.3% as heavy oil (<22 API).
The mature onshore basins (long-life fields/test in the Espírito Santo, Potiguar, Recôncavo, Sergipe and Alagoas basins) produced 95,385 Mboe/d, of which 73,485 Mbbl/d of oil and 3,482 MMm³/d of natural gas.
Of this amount, Petrobras accounted for 51,000 boe/d and non-Petrobras concessions for 44.4 thousand boe/d, including: 20,424 boe/d in Rio Grande do Norte, 16,475 boe/d in Bahia, 5,979 boe/d in Alagoas, 1,329 boe/d in Espírito Santo and 175 boe/d in Sergipe.
