The Casa de Francisca runs all four stages tonight, and the headline is in the Salão: Ayrton Montarroyos returns to the Palacete Teresa with “Estudando Ary Barroso,” an open rehearsal — or “laboratório de repertório,” as the house describes it — for his next album dedicated to the composer of “Aquarela do Brasil,” “Na Baixa do Sapateiro” and “Camisa Amarela.” The format is deliberately unfinished: Montarroyos and his trio — Cello Cascino on violão, Ariane Rodrigues on flautas, and Arquétipo Rafa on percussion — are testing arrangements, adjusting choices, and sharing the construction with the audience. Tonight’s guest is Mônica Salmaso, one of the defining voices of Brazilian art song. Salmaso’s catalogue spans three decades of critical acclaim — four Latin Grammy nominations, two Prêmio da Música Brasileira awards, and a vocal presence that draws on erudite, popular, and regional traditions simultaneously. The pairing with Montarroyos and the Ary Barroso songbook makes this one of the strongest midweek programmes in the city. Tomorrow (Thursday) the series continues with João Camarero as guest. In Sala B at 21h30, Marina Nemésio and Rodrigo Coelho present “João 1958” — a reconstruction of João Gilberto’s private recordings from the year before he invented bossa nova. In the Porão at 21h30, Desacuenda — the trans artists collective directed by Dandá Costa — performs original compositions with guests Jupitter, Albert Magno and Coral. Tonight’s programme at the Blue Note SP has been revised: the Bárbara Fialho show — originally scheduled for 20h as a Rolling Stone Novas Vozes presentation — has been cancelled by the promoter. Eventim has issued automatic refunds. The 22h30 session stands: Thaís Mello takes the stage with “Do Jazz ao Soul,” a show that bridges the American jazz-soul tradition with Brazilian vocal sensibility. This falls within the Blue Note SP’s March Mês da Mulher programme, curated by Luiz Calainho and Facundo Guerra. The Blue Note occupies the second floor of the Conjunto Nacional — the iconic modernist building on Avenida Paulista, 2073, opened in 1955 — and its 800-square-metre room offers an intimacy that rewards the solo-vocal format: voice and rhythm at close range, with the avenue’s skyline visible through the windows. The Bourbon Street Music Club on Rua dos Chanés, 127, in Moema, hosts a full Eric Clapton blues tribute tonight performed by Gabi Anias — one of the venue’s breakthrough artists from the Bourbon Street Fest programme. The setlist draws on Clapton’s career from the Yardbirds and Cream through the solo decades: “Layla,” “Wonderful Tonight,” “Crossroads,” “Tears in Heaven.” The Bourbon Street — listed among the top 100 music venues in the world by DownBeat Magazine — has been São Paulo’s home for blues and jazz since 1994, occupying a converted theatre in the residential heart of Moema. Wednesday at the Ó do Borogodó is one of the strongest nights on the weekly rotation — the crowd is dedicated, the musicians are sharp, and the room rewards those who arrive before midnight to secure a position near the stage. The bar on Rua Horácio Lane, 21, in Pinheiros has been the home of samba de raiz in São Paulo since 2001, hosting the city’s most respected sambistas, chorões and cancioneiros in a no-frills room with exposed brick, a small scattering of tables, and a sound that fills every corner. Wednesday hours run from 22h to 3h, with live samba from around midnight. The repertoire centres on partido-alto and samba de terreiro, with choro standards woven through. The cover charge is typically R$20. Cold beer, caipirinhas, and boteco food — the caldo de feijão and sardine sandwich are house staples. The crowd skews younger than weekend sessions but equally committed to the music. The Bar Brahma on the corner of Avenida São João and Avenida Ipiranga — the esquina mais famosa de São Paulo — runs its Wednesday programme with live samba and MPB from the evening. The house has been in continuous operation since 1948 and stages around 1,500 performances a year across its main salão, balcony, and pavement tables. Wednesday nights draw a mixed crowd of regulars, office workers winding down, and tourists following the Ipiranga-São João intersection that Caetano Veloso immortalised in “Sampa.” The kitchen serves full Brazilian fare alongside cold chope Brahma and caipirinhas — the bolinho de bacalhau and coxinha are house standards.
