Rio de Janeiro Daily Brief for Monday, April 6, 2026

Welcome to your Rio de Janeiro daily guide for Monday, April 6, 2026. The B3 reopens today after the Easter break — and it reopens into a volatile geopolitical moment. Overnight, Egyptian, Pakistani, and Turkish mediators sent both Iran and the US a draft 45-day ceasefire proposal calling for an immediate halt to fighting and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Neither side has responded. Trump’s deadline for Iran expires tomorrow (Tuesday 8PM ET). Strikes killed 25+ people across Iran overnight, including the Revolutionary Guard’s intelligence chief. Brent holds near US$109. The dollar enters the week near R$5.15. Expect a volatile opening. On the cultural side, the MAR is open today (11h–18h, R$20/R$10) with No Martins, the Bienal, and Augusti. The MAM’s Buren Voile/Toile sails enter their final six days. The CCBB continues Viva Mauricio. The weather is excellent: 28°C with only 15% rain.

This is part of The Rio Times’ daily Rio de Janeiro daily guide coverage for expats and the international community.
