Carrossel de Baco brings Rock in Baião to Blue Note SP, Arthur Nestrovski opens Violão Violão vol. 2 at Casa de Francisca, and the Pagode da 27 takes the Porão
01 Tonight’s Vibe Menu
Wednesday in São Paulo opens on three simultaneous stages. On the Avenida Paulista, Blue Note SP hosts Carrossel de Baco in their “Rock in Baião” project — a Baixada Santista band led by singer, composer, and theatrical director Danilo Nunes, whose repertoire fuses maracatu, xote, samba de roda, and rock into a performance-driven spectacle drawing on two decades of the Movimento Caiçara Contemporâneo. Show at 8 pm. In the Centro Histórico, the Casa de Francisca operates three spaces in parallel: the Salão hosts guitarist Arthur Nestrovski launching his new solo album Violão, Violão vol. 2 — eight choros and valsas centred on the music of Garoto, with special participation from Tatiana Parra — at 9:30 pm; the Porão fills to Pagode da 27, a samba collective born on the streets of Grajaú in 2005, at 9:30 pm (first 100 free); and the Largo opens at 6:30 pm with free DJ sets from Selecta Brasil. In Pinheiros, the Ó do Borogodó opens at 9 pm for a midweek roda de samba and choro. Warm, around 30°C, with possible rain in the evening.

1Blue Note SP — Carrossel de Baco · Rock in Baião
Rock · Baião · Raízes
The anchor show of the Paulista Wednesday. Carrossel de Baco is a Baixada Santista band born from the intersection of music and theatre — founded by singer, composer, actor, and director Danilo Nunes, who draws on the Movimento Caiçara Contemporâneo to build performances that mix maracatu, xote, samba de roda, rock, and theatrical gesture into a single, propulsive whole. The band spent twenty years developing a language that is rooted in the popular traditions of the São Paulo coastline while remaining electric and contemporary in form. The “Rock in Baião” project brings that language into relief, placing the syncopated drive of baião in direct dialogue with rock instrumentation. The band performs with Danilo Nunes on vocals, Daniel Simonian on guitar, Paulo Faria on bass, Rei Vieira on keyboards, Edson Kbeça on percussion, and Anderson KB on drums. Blue Note SP, on the second floor of the Conjunto Nacional on Av. Paulista, opened in 2019 under the curatorship of Luiz Calainho and Facundo Guerra — the first Blue Note franchise in Brazil, now one of the city’s most consistent live music addresses. Show at 8 pm, tickets via Eventim.

2Casa de Francisca Salão — Arthur Nestrovski · Violão, Violão vol. 2
Violão · Choro · Instrumental
Arthur Nestrovski is one of the most respected violonists and music critics in Brazil — a literary figure and musician whose work bridges close listening, scholarship, and performance. Tonight he presents Violão, Violão vol. 2, his fourth solo album and tenth album overall, released on February 27, 2026. The record gathers eight choros and valsas built around the music of Garoto (1915–55), one of the supreme names in the history of the Brazilian guitar, and opens outward to include Ernesto Nazareth, Pixinguinha, Tom Jobim, and the contemporary composer João Camarero — whose Valsa n. 4 was written in 2023 and dedicated to Nestrovski himself. The performance at the Casa de Francisca Salão features the special participation of singer Tatiana Parra. Doors open at 7:30 pm, show at 9:30 pm, seated format. The Salão — the Casa de Francisca’s main room in the Palacete Teresa — is one of the most intimate seated concert spaces in São Paulo’s Centro Histórico. Advance tickets via the Casa de Francisca website.

3Casa de Francisca Porão — Pagode da 27
Pagode · Samba · Porão
The Pagode da 27 was born in 2005 from a gathering of sambistas in Grajaú, on Rua Manoel Guilherme dos Reis — a street that had been considered one of the most dangerous in the Zona Sul in the 1990s, later recognised as a street of cultural heritage. The group plays every Sunday on the street in its home neighbourhood, and over two decades has drawn a who’s-who of Brazilian samba to visit its roda: Waldir 59, Leci Brandão, Osvaldinho da Cuíca, Reinaldo, Cleber Augusto, and Criolo among them. The group has released three CDs — “A Comunidade Chegou”, “Filhos da Favela”, and “É o Povo na Cabeça” — and a commemorative ten-year vinyl. The Porão at the Casa de Francisca is the most electric of the house’s three spaces: underground, red-curtained, standing-room, and built for nights exactly like this. Doors open at 7:30 pm, show at 9:30 pm. The first 100 tickets are free, distributed from 6:40 pm at the bilheteria.

4Ó do Borogodó — Wednesday Roda
Samba · Choro · No cover
Since 2001, the Ó do Borogodó on Rua Horácio Lane in Pinheiros has been one of São Paulo’s most important samba and choro addresses — a simple bar where the music is always serious. The house operates every night of the week; Wednesday opens at 9 pm and runs until 2 am. The programming rotates among the city’s best samba and choro musicians, with no cover and no pretension. Cold chope, caipirinhas, sardine sandwiches at the counter, and a room where the audience participates rather than observes. The Ó do Borogodó’s genius is precisely this: it has always understood that the best nights in São Paulo are the ones where you forget what time it is. Check @odoborogodobar on Instagram for the night’s musician lineup.

5Casa de Francisca Largo — DJ Selecta Brasil
Disco · Funk · Boogie · Free
The open-air Largo at the Casa de Francisca starts the Wednesday evening with DJ Selecta Brasil from 6:30 pm — free entry. Selecta Brasil is the project of DJ, producer, and music researcher Rafael Silva Ribeiro, dedicated entirely to celebrating the grooves of Brazilian music. Focused on disco, funk, and boogie, the project began six years ago as a YouTube channel and has accumulated over 800 thousand views, becoming a reference among collectors and fans of national music. The Largo — the outdoor courtyard at the Palacete Teresa — runs until 4:30 pm on Wednesday afternoons before the evening programme begins; the DJ set from 6:30 pm bridges the gap before the Salão and Porão open at 9:30 pm. Free entry, no reservation required.

07 Getting Around Transport intel
Metro: This São Paulo nightlife guide recommends the metro for the evening’s first two stops. The Metrô de São Paulo runs until midnight on Wednesdays (extended service to 1 am on some lines). For Casa de Francisca, use São Bento (Line 3 Red) or Luz (Line 4 Yellow). For Blue Note SP, use Consolação (Line 2 Green) or Paulista (Line 4 Yellow). For Ó do Borogodó in Pinheiros, use Fradique Coutinho (Line 4 Yellow). After midnight, use 99 or Uber — Wednesday night surge in São Paulo is moderate.
Weather: Warm with temperatures around 30°C. Light rain possible in the evening — São Paulo in early March is humid and subject to afternoon and night showers. All featured venues are indoors except the Casa de Francisca Largo. Carry an umbrella for the Largo and any outdoor transfers.
Ride-hailing: 99 and Uber run reliably city-wide. The Centro–Paulista corridor is 15 minutes by app; Paulista–Pinheiros is 10 minutes. For the Ó do Borogodó late-night return, pick up on Rua Horácio Lane or the corner of Rua Teodoro Sampaio.
Safety: The Centro Histórico near Casa de Francisca is busy on Wednesday evenings; stay on Quintino Bocaiúva and the main streets. Av. Paulista is well-patrolled. Pinheiros is safe at night. Standard São Paulo awareness applies: keep valuables minimal, use ride-hailing for late returns.
