The Pinacoteca, which opened Knockout! by Pascale Marthine Tayou across the full Pina Luz on Saturday, remains closed today (Tuesday) and reopens Wednesday. For lunch, the Rua Oscar Freire and Alameda Lorena options are a 10-minute walk from the museum. The A Casa do Porco and surrounding restaurants on Rua Araújo serve through mid-afternoon.

Pinheiros after Tomie Ohtake: The neighbourhood around the Instituto Tomie Ohtake on Faria Lima has one of the city’s strongest dining concentrations. Vila Madalena side streets, a 15-minute walk, offer craft coffee and casual dining through the evening.

Centro: With the CCBB and Pinacoteca both closed today, Centro is quieter than usual. The Triângulo Histórico around Pátio do Colégio has restaurants running through mid-afternoon for those passing through.

06Practical InfoNeed to know

MASP — free Tuesday today: First free Tuesday with the full Histórias Latino-Americanas programme. Three exhibitions across two buildings: Sandra Gamarra Heshiki (1st floor Edifício Lina Bo Bardi), La Chola Poblete (2nd floor Edifício Pietro Maria Bardi), Claudia Alarcón and Silät (3rd floor). All through August 2. Extended hours: 10h–20h. Online booking required at masp.org.br/ingressos.

Pinacoteca — reopens Wednesday: Knockout! by Pascale Marthine Tayou across seven galleries of the Pina Luz plus Cristina Salgado in the Octógono. Pina Estação opens Macunaíma é Duwid this month. Free Saturdays.

Trump: war “practically concluded”: In a CBS interview Monday, President Trump said the US is “well ahead” of the timeline for the Iran conflict. The statement drove Monday’s market rally. However, Iran’s foreign ministry said there is no space for ceasefire talks while attacks continue. The Strait of Ormuz remains partially closed.

Focus Report — Monday update: Selic year-end forecast raised from 12.00% to 12.13%. IPCA stays at 3.91%. The Copom meets March 17–18.

Emergency: SAMU 192, Polícia Militar 190, Bombeiros 193, Defesa Civil 199. Hospital das Clínicas (Cerqueira César), Hospital São Paulo (Vila Clementino).

07Community & LifestyleLocal life

The MASP’s free day. Tuesday at the MASP has always carried a specific energy — the building’s extended hours (10h–20h, two hours longer than any other day) draw a mix of students, retirees and Paulista regulars who treat the museum as part of the avenue’s daily rhythm. Today that rhythm gains weight: three Latin American artists occupy three floors, each working with identity, colonialism and resistance across painting, textile and performance. The Gamarra show alone — over 70 works questioning how museums construct colonial narratives — is a full afternoon. Book online before arriving; the free Tuesdays have drawn queues since the new exhibitions opened.

The post-title week. São Paulo’s football conversation has shifted to the Brasileirão. Abel Ferreira’s Palmeiras carry the momentum of a 27th Paulistão into the national calendar — Corinthians v Santos on Wednesday is the first major SP derby of the Série A week. The title settled cleanly: 3–1 aggregate, no controversy, no penalties. The conversation now moves to whether the squad depth that won four of five Paulistões can sustain a Brasileirão campaign alongside the Libertadores.

The Monday swing. The distance between Monday morning and Monday afternoon was extraordinary. At dawn, Brent was above US$118 and Asian markets were in freefall — Tokyo lost 5.2%, Seoul nearly 6%. By 4pm in São Paulo, Trump had declared the war “practically concluded” and the Ibovespa was green. The dollar dropped from R$5.29 to R$5.16 in hours. The Focus Report’s quiet upward revision of the Selic to 12.13% tells the more sober story: the oil shock has already begun repricing the easing cycle, and a single presidential statement — however market-moving — does not undo ten days of Ormuz disruption. The Copom in seven days will have to make a judgment call on whether Friday’s rally was signal or noise.

08Game DayGame day

No fixture tonight. No Brasileirão or Copa do Brasil matches are scheduled for Tuesday March 10 in São Paulo.

Next SP fixtures: Corinthians v Santos — Wednesday March 11, 19h (Brasileirão). Palmeiras v Mixto — Thursday March 12, 20h30 (Copa do Brasil). São Paulo v Vasco — Thursday March 12, 19h30 (Brasileirão). No traffic impact tonight.

09Business & MarketsMarket watch

Ibovespa: Closed Monday at 180,915 points, up 0.86% — the first positive session since the Ormuz crisis began. The rally came in the final hour after Trump told CBS News that the Iran war is “practically concluded.” The index had traded in the red for most of the session, weighed down by the Asian rout (Tokyo −5.2%, Seoul −5.96%) and Brent’s intraday spike toward US$118. Petroleum stocks led gains: PETR4 and PRIO posted significant advances.

Dollar: Closed Monday at R$5.1641, down 1.52% — the lowest close since February 27, before the strikes. The dollar had touched R$5.2864 intraday before reversing sharply on Trump’s comments. Year-to-date, the dollar is now down 5.92%.

Selic: 15.00% (current rate). The Focus Report released Monday raised the year-end Selic forecast from 12.00% to 12.13%, the first upward revision in easing cycle projections. IPCA forecast unchanged at 3.91%. The Copom meets March 17–18.

Oil: Brent spiked to nearly US$118 per barrel Monday morning before settling at US$98.96, up 6.76%. WTI touched US$119 intraday before closing at US$94.77 (+4.26%). The Strait of Ormuz remains partially closed. G7 finance ministers discussed a coordinated release of emergency petroleum reserves on Monday.

Context: Monday’s session was a tale of two halves — the morning belonged to the oil shock and Asian crash, the afternoon to Trump’s claim that the conflict is nearly over. The net result was positive for equities, but oil at US$99 remains 40% above pre-crisis levels. The Focus Report has already begun repricing the Selic path. Tuesday’s session will test whether Monday’s optimism holds. The Copom decision on March 17–18 looms as the next domestic anchor.
