Welcome to your Rio de Janeiro daily brief for Friday, February 27, 2026 — a day built for indoor culture, live music, and reflection. Tonight is one of the most anticipated rock shows of the year: Plebe Rude opens their 45/40 anniversary tour at Circo Voador (20h), performing “O Concreto Já Rachou” in its entirety, with Fausto Fawcett opening. The timing is fitting — 55% rain at 26°C favours indoor plans anyway. All four major museums are open today: the CCBB (Vetores-Vertentes, free), MAM (Daniel Buren, free), MAR (R$20) and Museu do Amanhã (R$30), making this an ideal day for a cultural circuit before Lapa tonight. The city woke up to Flamengo’s devastating Recopa Sul-Americana loss: Lanús won 3-2 in extra time at a rain-soaked Maracanã last night (4-2 on aggregate), with two goals in the final minutes of the prorrogação silencing 64,470 fans. On the markets, the Ibovespa closed Thursday at 191,005 (-0.13%) while the dollar ticked up to R$5.138. This Rio de Janeiro daily brief covers weather, events, transport, food, and practical tips for your day.

Friday belongs to Plebe Rude. The Brasília punk legends open their 45/40 anniversary tour at Circo Voador tonight, performing their landmark debut album “O Concreto Já Rachou” in full — with Fausto Fawcett’s ANIMAKINA show warming up the crowd. During the day, all four of Rio’s major museums are open: the CCBB’s Vetores-Vertentes photography show (free), Daniel Buren’s sail-and-stripe installation at the MAM (free), plus the MAR and Museu do Amanhã. The 55% rain chance at 26°C makes this a day better suited to indoor plans — perfect for a museum circuit before heading to Lapa. The city is still processing last night’s Recopa heartbreak, with two late extra-time goals from Lanús silencing 64,470 at the Maracanã. Bars and botequins will be quieter than usual tonight, which may be just the reprieve Centro and Zona Sul need before a packed weekend of Cariocão semifinals.

Tonight — Live Music
Plebe Rude 45/40 + Fausto Fawcett — Circo Voador
The headline cultural event of the day. Plebe Rude — Philippe Seabra, André X, Clemente Nascimento and Marcelo Capucci — launch their 45th anniversary tour with a complete live performance of “O Concreto Já Rachou,” the 1986 debut that earned a Disco de Ouro and defined Brasília punk alongside Legião Urbana and Capital Inicial. The setlist continues with career highlights spanning four decades. Opening the night, Fausto Fawcett brings ANIMAKINA, his audiovisual performance mixing synths, spoken word and cyber-funk — expect “Kátia Flávia,” “Rio 40 Graus” and “Santa Clara Poltergeist.” DJ Edinho before and between sets. Tickets via Eventim. Note: Clemente returns to the stage after cardiac surgery in December — his first show since recovery.
Museums & Exhibitions
CCBB Rio — Open Today
Vetores-Vertentes: Fotógrafas do Pará occupies the first floor with 170 works by 11 Amazonian women photographers spanning five decades — including VR experiences and an aromatic installation called Icamiabas. Curated by Sissa Aneleh for the Museu das Mulheres, the show runs through March 30. Also running: Viva Maurício de Sousa, the immersive Turma da Mônica experience (through April 13, last entry 17h). Fourth floor: Museu BB permanent collection. Ingressos at the bilheteria or bb.com.br/cultura.
MAM Rio — Open Today
Two compelling shows continue: Daniel Buren‘s first installation in Brazil — Voile/Toile – Toile/Voile (Vela/Tela – Tela/Vela) — transforms the museum’s foyer with 11 striped sails from January’s regatta-performance on the Baía de Guanabara (through April 12). Plus a Carmen Portinho retrospective celebrating the pioneering engineer behind Rio’s modernist infrastructure. Free admission. Cinemateca MAM also operating with regular programming.
Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR) — Open Today
The MAR is open today with full programming. The rooftop terrace remains one of the best viewpoints in Centro, looking across Praça Mauá to the Museu do Amanhã. Combine with the VLT (Parada dos Museus stop) for an easy Praça Mauá itinerary. On a rainy day like today, the covered walkway between MAR and Museu do Amanhã makes the pairing practical.
Museu do Amanhã — Open Today
Santiago Calatrava’s futuristic museum is open with its permanent exhibition and the temporary show Oceano, which explores the relationship between human and oceanic intelligence through memory, attention and anticipation (through May 19). Half-price for students and under-21s. Casa do Saulo restaurant on site for lunch. Combine with the MAR across the square.
Also Open Today
Casa Museu Eva Klabin

Recopa Sul-Americana — Result
Flamengo fought back from 0-1 down (Castillo, 29′, after an Ayrton Lucas error) to lead 2-1 in normal time through two penalties: Arrascaeta (36′) after a handball by Carrera, and Jorginho (84′) after Sepúlveda fouled Arrascaeta in the box. With the aggregate level at 2-2, extra time began. The Maracanã believed. Then Lanús struck twice in three minutes: Canale headed in from a corner (103′) and Dylan Aquino broke away to seal it (106′). Final: Flamengo 2-3 Lanús, 2-4 on aggregate. Público: 64,470. Renda: R$8.69 million. Filipe Luís now faces two consecutive finals lost in 2026 — the Supercopa (to Corinthians) and now the Recopa. Attention turns immediately to the Cariocão semifinal volta against Madureira (Mon 2 Mar, 21h, Maracanã), where Flamengo’s 3-0 ida lead should be safe.
Brasileirão Série A — Round 4 Complete
| Match | Result | Venue |
| RB Bragantino v Athletico-PR | 1–1 | Bragança Paulista |
| Remo v Internacional | 1–1 | Mangueirão, Belém |
| Coritiba v São Paulo | 0–1 | Couto Pereira, Curitiba |
| Cruzeiro v Corinthians | 1–1 | Mineirão, Belo Horizonte |
| Palmeiras v Fluminense | 2–1 | Arena Barueri, SP |
| Grêmio v Atlético-MG | 2–1 | Arena do Grêmio, Porto Alegre |
| Santos v Vasco | 2–1 | Vila Belmiro, Santos |
Round 4 is now complete. Neymar was the story at Vila Belmiro last night, scoring twice — including a sublime chip over Léo Jardim — to give Santos a 2-1 win over Vasco (Cauan Barros equalised briefly). It was Neymar’s first goals of 2026 and Santos’ first win, lifting them to 13th on 4 points. Vasco, under interim coach Bruno Lazaroni after Fernando Diniz’s sacking, are now bottom with 1 point. The match was also marked by a running feud between Neymar and Thiago Mendes, reigniting their PSG-Lyon rivalry from the French league. Palmeiras lead the table on 10 points after beating Fluminense 2-1 (Vitor Roque pen., Allan; Lucho Acosta). São Paulo also have 10 after their 1-0 win at Coritiba. Three matches remain postponed: Flamengo v Mirassol, Botafogo v Vitória, and Bahia v Chapecoense.
Cariocão — Semifinal Volta This Weekend
The Cariocão semifinal second legs are confirmed: Fluminense v Vasco on Sunday (1 Mar, 18h, Maracanã — Flu mando, Flu lead 1-0) and Madureira v Flamengo on Monday (2 Mar, 21h, Maracanã — Madureira mando, Fla lead 3-0). Fluminense need only a draw; Flamengo’s 3-0 cushion makes Monday a formality barring disaster. The single-match final will follow at a date and venue to be confirmed by FERJ. Sunday’s Flu v Vasco derby is the real story — Vasco’s interim setup under Lazaroni faces a Fluminense side that already have one foot in the final.
09Business & MarketsMarket watch
Market context: The Ibovespa’s two-session pause is barely a correction — just -0.26% combined after 13 record closes in 2026 and a 17%+ YTD gain. The Nvidia earnings miss-on-expectations reinforced the global tech rotation that has been driving foreign capital into Brazilian equities all year. The BCB’s February foreign exchange flow is positive by US$3.36 billion through Feb 20, with US$8.4 billion in 2026. Today’s IPCA-15 reading is the key domestic data point — it will set expectations for the March Copom meeting. Minister Haddad’s impending departure from the Finance Ministry continues to generate headlines but has not materially affected market pricing.
