Brazil Faces Record Wealth Flight as Millionaires Seek Safer Shores

A new report from Henley & Partners shows that Brazil will lose about 1,200 millionaires in 2025. These wealthy people will take around $8.4 billion with them as they move their money and lives to other countries.

This is the biggest loss in Latin America and puts Brazil sixth in the world for millionaire departures. Most of these millionaires are choosing to move to the United States, especially Florida, as well as Portugal, the Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, and Panama.

They want safer places to live, more stable governments, lower taxes, and better services like healthcare and education. This trend is not new. Over the past ten years, Brazil’s millionaire population has dropped by 28%.

People with money are often the first to leave when they feel that things are getting worse at home. They can move quickly because they have the resources to do so.

Countries that attract these millionaires benefit from new investments and more money in their economies. They often see more jobs created and higher demand for homes and services.

On the other hand, Brazil loses not just money, but also business leaders and investors who could help the country grow. The report says that globally, 142,000 millionaires will move to new countries in 2025.

The United Kingdom will lose the most, with 16,500 millionaires expected to leave. China, India, South Korea, and Russia also face big losses.

For Brazil, this ongoing outflow is a warning sign. It shows that problems like crime, unstable politics, and high taxes are pushing people away. If this continues, Brazil could find it harder to attract investment and create new jobs.

Henley & Partners’ data makes it clear: if Brazil wants to keep its wealthiest citizens—and the benefits they bring—it needs to make the country safer, more stable, and more attractive for business. Otherwise, the trend of losing millionaires and their money may only get worse.
