VEJA/FSB Survey: Huck Would Tie Bolsonaro and Defeat Haddad in Second Round

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Entertainer Luciano Huck still has no party affiliation but has been enthusiastically supporting both RenovaBr and Agora!, which define themselves as “superpartisan” movements. According to VEJA, the latest speculation is that the TV host would join the Cidadania party.

A survey published by VEJA in partnership with FSB indicates that in a hypothetical scenario in 2022, entertainer Luciano Huck would beat Fernando Haddad in a potential second round but would tie within the margin of error with the current president, Jair Bolsonaro, (39 to 43 percent).

Other scenarios suggest that in a new presidential dispute between Haddad and Bolsonaro, the president would win, by 47 to 34 percent. The survey also shows that Lula would lose to Bolsonaro, by 38 to 46 percent.

Leftist Ciro Gomes, on the other hand, would not make it past the first round of elections. Bolsonaro, according to the survey, would only lose to Sérgio Moro. In the second round, the minister would win by 38 to 34 percent.

The survey’s error margin is 2 percentage points plus or minus.

In the Melhores & Maiores (“Best & Biggest”) awards event, held in September this year by EXAME, Huck said that “if we do nothing, the country will implode”.

“I want to be an increasingly active citizen so that the country becomes more efficient, more affective and less unequal,” he said, as he was given a standing ovation.

“But we won’t reduce inequality just by talking to whites on Avenida Brigadeiro Faria Lima [in São Paulo]. The favela has become a landscape and it can’t.”
