Flávio Bolsonaro Announces He Is Cured of Covid-19

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Nine days after reporting having contracted Covid-19, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro announced he was cured of the disease. In posts on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, he wrote that he is recovered.

“Like myself, there are now 3.3 million people recovered,” the senator posted in the caption of a picture in which he was holding a box of hydroxychloroquine.

The senator reported having treated the symptoms with hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin, drugs whose scientific efficacy is under study. As on the day he reported being infected, Flávio Bolsonaro pointed out that he had medical follow-up throughout the process.

Flávio’s case was the fourth confirmed occurrence of Covid-19 in President Jair Bolsonaro’s family. In early July, the President announced he had contracted the disease. Late last month, it was the first lady’s turn, Michelle Bolsonaro, to report having been infected.

On August 15th, the President’s youngest son, Jair Renan, announced he was infected. All are cured.

The disease has claimed victims in the presidential family. Last month, the first lady’s grandmother, Maria Aparecida Firmo Ferreira, 80 years old, died of Covid-19 at the Ceilândia Regional Hospital, in the Federal District. At the time, the Secretariat of Social Communication of the Presidency issued a note of condolences.
