Flávio Bolsonaro, Diagnosed With Covid-19, Is Free of Symptoms

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – On Monday, August 24th, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro was diagnosed with Covid-19, a disease caused by the novel coronavirus, the legislator’s advisor reported.

Flávio is symptom-free and in isolation at his home in Brasília. The senator is taking Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin, despite the lack of medical evidence for the efficacy of these drugs in the treatment of Covid-19.

The senator is the fourth in the Bolsonaro family to publicly confirm he has been infected with the virus. Before him, his father President Jair Bolsonaro, first lady Michelle Bolsonaro, and his half brother Jair Renan were infected.

According to the President and First Lady, both are no longer infected with the novel coronavirus. Jair Renan’s mother and Jair Bolsonaro’s ex-wife, Ana Cristina Siqueira Valle, published on social media that her son is also recovered.

A few days after Brazil reached 100,000 deaths by the novel coronavirus, a Datafolha research study showed that Brazilians are remarkably divided regarding Bolsonaro’s responsibility for the tragic death toll.

Virtually half of respondents, 47 percent, say they believe the President is not to blame for the deaths. Those who find Bolsonaro responsible amount to 52 percent – 11 percent consider him the main culprit while 41 percent say he is among the culprits, but not the main one.
