Uruguay plans its mega project “Super Island” by the boulevard of Montevideo

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A new megaproject, in this case in Uruguay, foresees the construction of a marina, real estate developments, and areas for public use of leisure and recreation”, in an artificial island format in front of the boulevard of Montevideo.

A super harbor with 300 boat berths, 36 properties and construction that will take four years in the initial phase and ten more years in the final phase and cost an estimated US$2.3 billion.

This is the project mvd360, which would extend the promenade by about three kilometers and for which a bridge 450 meters long will be built to reach the island by car. By the time the work is completed, it is expected that 4,500 jobs will be created.

THE ISLAND OF MONTEVIDEO

The planned project will be 36 hectares and located 450 meters from Rambla de Montevideo. Currently, everything is in the pipeline, as the promoter company is only a year old (Jirkel S.A., with no official website or information to verify) and is bringing together a corporation of more than 10 companies of different legal forms.

The resolution of May 9 of the Ministry of Transport, signed by President Lacalle Pou, indicates that this “private initiative has as its purpose the design, construction, and development of a private investment undertaking consisting of a new area reclaimed from the sea in front of the coast of Montevideo in the area of ​​Punta Gorda, where a marina, real estate developments and areas for public use of leisure and recreation would be located.

The port, one of the most attractive points of the new project, will be built with the filling of the land, there will be a marina with 300 berths for boats of different categories, and there will be a launching and beach service for boats, as well as places for all kinds of water sports.
