Brazil elections 2022: With Moro’s exit, Bolsonaro gains 15 points among his 2018 voters -poll PoderData

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL -President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) grew 15 percentage points among those who voted for him in the second round of 2018 and intends to repeat that vote this year, according to the new round of the PoderData poll this Monday, 18.

According to the institute, the increase was favored by the departure of former judge Sergio Moro (União Brasil).

A month ago, the conservative Bolsonaro had 47% of eligible voters among those who said they voted for him in the second round. In Monday’s poll, the percentage of those who want to repeat the vote is 62%.

According to the poll, there are no significant differences among the other candidates. For example, Ciro Gomes (PDT) and Lula da Silva (PT) lose three percentage points. Lula had 20% and now comes in at 17%; Ciro had 6% and currently has 3%.

João Doria (PSDB) goes the opposite way but changes the level within the margin of error. A month ago, the toucan added 2% of the voting intentions of Bolsonaro voters in 2018. The volume recorded on Monday in favor of Doria is 4%.

André Janones (Avante) and Simone Tebet (MDB) hold the same percentage of 2%. Eymael (PSC), who was not on the final list, has 1%. All other candidates fail to score in this segment of the electorate.

HADDAD VOTERS

Among voters who said they voted for Fernando Haddad (Workers Party – PT) in 2018, almost 77-years-years old Lula da Silva got the highest share: 73%. However, the index dropped by three percentage points in one month.

Bolsonaro picked up another 5% of Haddad’s vote during the period, rising from 2% to 7%. Ciro, who had 7%, fell to 2%. Doria, in turn, fell from 4% to 1% of those who voted for the PT candidate.

Janones had 3% of the other candidates and now comes to 4%, and Tebet lost his only point. Leonardo Pericles (UP) and Vera (PSTU), who was not listed in the last poll, appear in this round with 1% of voting intentions.

BLANKS AND ZEROS

Another significant movement among voters said they voted white/zero in the 2018 second round. A month ago, 53% said they would vote for Lula in this October’s elections. On Monday, the volume dropped to 33%.

Ciro Gomes remains the largest “heir” of votes in this segment. He had 15% of indications a month ago and has risen to 27% in this new round of PowerData. Bolsonaro, in turn, swings down 2 points, from 16% to 14%.

Except for Janones, who has risen from 1% to 4%, no other candidate scores in this segment.

To arrive at today’s Monday results, PoderData surveyed 3 thousand people between April 10 and 12. The survey’s margin of error is two percentage points, and the confidence index is 95%.
