RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – President Jair Bolsonaro said last night that “in the coming days,” he would announce former minister Walter Braga Netto as vice president on his ticket.
He highlighted the general’s achievements in the armed forces and praised other candidates for the post, such as former minister Tereza Cristina.
Bolsonaro pointed out that Braga had served net 45 years, besides taking command of the Ministry of Defense. He left the office and was appointed advisor to the presidency.
In order to run, Braga Netto must resign from office by early July so he can run alongside Bolsonaro.
– I admire Braga Netto a lot. And he is a person who will help Brazil a lot in the coming years if we are re-elected. I thank Braga Netto for accepting this job, he said.
