Rio Music Carnival Takes Electronic Music to Marina da Glória During Carnaval

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Carnaval is time for Samba, blocks and the famous and traditional parade of Samba schools in Marquês de Sapucaí, right? Wrong!

During the peak of the revelry, the Rio Music Carnival 2020 takes place at Marina da Glória, an electronic music festival that this year will feature a new format, lasting three days between February 23rd and 25th.

The festival will feature a star-studded team of national and international DJs on one of the city’s most beautiful postcard sites, overlooking the Sugar Loaf and Christ The Redeemer.

This year, the event’s structure will include a new lighting system, stage, tent (the same one used at Rock in Rio), a larger eating area and a 40-centimeter-raised floor for the premium area – avoiding potential disturbances in case of rainfall. In addition, there will be a special rainwater suction system.

One of the most anticipated names in the program is Australian Timmy Trumpet, one of the most popular DJs in the world today (by DJ Mag’s ranking) and one of Tomorrowland’s most praised attractions in recent years.

Much of Timmy’s success comes from his overwhelming stage presence, playing his trumpet live in a breathtaking performance.

On the same night, called the Full Festival, the Nervo duo will perform – the Australian sisters Mim and Liv Nervo. The duo’s recent hit “We’re All No One” (with Afrojack and Steve Aoki) reached the Top 10 at Billboard Club Charts and went to the BBC Radio1 (UK) playlist, boasting some four million views on Youtube.

Still on Monday the Canadian duo Loud Luxury – made up of Andrew Fedyk and Joe De Pace, which exploded worldwide with the hit “Body” accounting for almost one billion plays on digital platforms – will be performing. For the first time in Brazil, they define their sound as “Deep House with a shot of Tequila”.
